The Blanket Project acknowledges that misunderstanding and conflict can arise from diversity, but firmly asserts that every unique individual has inherent goodness to contribute to the world. It is a collaborative initiative that seeks to promote cultural understanding, goodwill and a spirit of service between its participants. Believing that art is a universal language and that people everywhere hope for beauty, the Blanket Project engages participants in a global and cross-cultural art project in order to break social barriers on the local and international level. We are asking people all over the world to creatively respond to three questions – (1) What do you hope for? (2) What is your dream for the world/others? and (3) What does “beauty” look like to you?
Once the initial idea for The Blanket Project came to be through the inspiration of other student activists and dreamers, I refined details such as its mission and objectives. Next, I shared it with my friends and the International Justice Mission (IJM) Pepperdine club chapter. The invitation to participate received enthusiastic responses and led to the creation of my immediate team. As a team, we shared our passions and skills, and delegated specific jobs for each person (ie: main contact for international participants, blanket art/logo designer, technology/video designer, web designer, and contact person for screen printing companies, book printing companies, blanket ministries).
* Join the Facebook group, “The Blanket Project”! There you will find updates, project pictures, and links. * Because every individual has someone unique to offer to the project, everyone is invited to submit a response to one or more of our three questions that we are posing.
